Title: ‘Aqui!/Here: Social Collaborative Tools for Authorship of Feature Film Projects’

The Aqui!/Here feature film project starts with an international synopses competition with a collaborative work based on a large intervention of the web and its new tools. The project implies and introduces a new methodology to authorship and produces international feature films with the help of the web social tools collaboration, http://www.aqui-here.com.
The history of the cinema is marked by examples of collaborative films that join producers, directors, cast, crew and sometimes several films in one feature film. Some of these films have the specificity of a common physical space. Cities such as Paris or Toronto have already been involved in collaborative cinematographic projects. Aqui!/Here is the most recent project that is born from the necessity of looking at the central public space of the cities and to dramatise a more intense life to it, alive, culturally active and the real centre of the city.
The central avenue of a city will be the leitmotiv to join central avenues of 10 cities from the 5 continents and in the cultural diversity, to construct a feature film that starts from the usual graphical option of the public maps of city centres, where one circle and a point inform where we are.
The authorship of this project starts in the social web beginning with the making of the synopsis itself.
Title: ‘Agents and Insiders: Children’s Agency and Child-Adult Connectedness Explored Through Digital Video’

The presentation discusses a recently completed PhD with digital video practice (2010) examining visibilities of children’s agency and child-adult connectedness. Combining art-based methods with recent discourse from cultural geography, visual ethnography and sociology, the project moved from a consideration of the child’s “Otherness(es)” into encounters between children and adults, devising digital and conceptual spaces in which the two groups can mingle as if they were peers. An important question was how to perceive, theorize and visualize the relationships between child, adult and digital technology. Who is the digital “native” and who the “immigrant” when we consider children’s agency and the complexities of child-adult relationships? Who is teaching and who is learning?
The presentation includes clips from the video works Child Agent and Insider. Insider re-visits a 1970s childhood dolls’ house. Thus, in a context of (adult) play involving repetition and recollection, the dolls’ house is visualized as both digital portal and Winnicottian “transitional object”. It is explored how a child might act out narratives of agency and connectedness, while the (adult) viewer is invited to appreciate this anew and do the same.
Child Agent features a boy from West Belfast from ages four to seven. The camera accompanied the child, but let him be in charge of how he wanted to show himself. The final film employs a split screen, highlighting different perspectives onto the idea of children and adults working/playing together, both of them projecting images, ideas and expectations of each other as “digital natives” and “immigrants”.
